On 16th January 2018, the School of Chemistry, University of Lincoln, welcomed local schools to its Brayford campus to take part in the national competition, established by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).

The yearly event was created for KS3 and KS4 learners, in order to encourage and reward high achievement in school chemistry students. Schools involved in this year’s challenge were Lincoln Minster School, Boston High School, Sir John Nelthorpe School, The Priory Academy LSST, St. Peter and St. Paul’s Catholic Voluntary Academy.

School teams were time-tested on their factual chemical knowledge, as well as completing a practical chemical-problem solving team exercise.

There are two parts to the competition, with regional heats commencing from October – January. Winning teams from heats will progress to a national final organised by the RSC during the end of Spring team.
